Sometimes even though we remove those influences, they reappear in other form or from other sources.  This is due to the deep nature of karma.  Karma extends beyond our current lifetime.  We are fulfilling the causes made by countless lifetimes before this one, this only one that we are aware of.

Sometimes we must let go of many people and activities that we thought we enjoyed in order to begin seeing a positive change.

Other times we may attempt to bring happiness or positive consequences to these influences but all to often they have a deep and strong karmic river of their own that needs to be overcome.

Ultimately escaping these forces and pursuing  your own happiness is the key.  As we are one with all phenomena our own positive cause will eventually flow outward to all.
